Fly Utopia Exhibition
transmediale.04, House of World Cultures, Berlin, Jan 1 - Feb 15, 2004

In 2004 the transmediale - international media art festival berlin - was held under the motto "Fly Utopia!". With the "Fly Utopia! Exhibition" at the House of World Cultures the transmediale.04 presented 14 international artistic concepts tracing utopias and dystopias of our age determined by media and technologies.

The "Fly Utopia! Market" inside the exhibition gathered utopian product designs and concepts of economic trade rooting in the present and pointing towards a thinkable and near future. Other projects and installations dealt with concepts of (lost) social utopias.

With "Your Kidney Supermarket" by the Indian artist Shilpa Gupta and "The Red Flag Flies" by Zhou Hongxiang from China this exhibition showed two pieces that have been bestowed with the transmediale award 2004.

More information about the entire exhibition is available at the transmediale website.
