Art Space Oranienburger
Exhibition 1 - 9 October 2006: iball by Hc Gilje (NO)

The Oranienburger Straße is one of the most prominent streets in Berlin and has changed rapidly after the Berlin wall came down. Today it is characterised by a lively mixture of tourism, restaurants, shops, prostitution and landmarks of old urban culture. Despite its vicinity of the Museumsinsel and contemporary art galleries, the Oranienburger Straße is still only rarely used for contemporary art projects.

Art Space Oranienburger Straße is an initiative aiming at the realisation of contemporary electronic art projects in this public space.

For the first show of Art Space Oranienburger, the Norwegian artist HC Gilje conceived the installation work iball. The nervously moving, giant eyeball sits on the lively boulevard.
